About the sculpture
The high convex forehead, narrow lips, almond-shaped eyes and wavy hair of this elegant statue of the Virgin Mary relate to the style of the leading 15th-century Utrecht sculptor Adriaen van Wesel. The maker of this statue thus likely worked in his surroundings.
