About the work

In the museum's own words — in Dutch

Op een lange, smalle strook is aan de rechterkant de god Mahavira in een tempel afgebeeld; de linkerkant bevat een tekst in Oud-Indisch schrift in rood en zwart, de bovenste twee en onderste vier regels in een kleiner schrift; verso meer tekst op dezelfde manier; aan weerszijden een smalle onbeschreven kolom met een grote rode stip, die ook in het midden van de strook is geplaatst en ook op de achterzijde. Tweederde tekstkolom op recto, eenderde voorstelling; verso: tekst; brede rode penseellijn langs tekst en voorstelling, drie rode stippen in midden van strook en in smalle marges aan de zijkanten.
