The Brooklyn Museum buys “The Life of Christ”
In 1900, after its showings in Paris, London and New York, the Life of Christ series was bought by the Brooklyn Museum, where some five hundred drawings, watercolours and oils from the cycle remain today.

Exhibition of Old Testament paintings
Tissot spent his last years painting Old Testament subjects; he never completed the series, but in 1901 he exhibited 80 of these paintings in Paris. The work was cut short by his sudden death at the Château de Buillon on 8 August 1902.
