About the sculpture
This bust depicting Lady Mallett is made by Ludwig von Hofer in 1851. Hofer (1801-1887) worked in Italy and Germany and exhibited at the Great Exhibition in 1851. He was particularly influenced by the neoclassical sculptor Thorvaldsen, in whose studion he worked in Rome.
