Arrives in Florence
Arrives in Florence, having visited Rome on the way, where he probably saw Gaulli's fresco in the Church of the Gesù. He lodges with the del Rosso family, who commission many works from him.

Returns to Naples from Florence
Returns to Naples, though he continues to work often for Florentine clients. His religious works of the mid-1680s, for Santa Maria in Campitelli in Rome (1685) and “Virgin of the Rosary” (1686, Capodimonte), show the influence of Cortona and Bernini in their illusionism, theatrical lighting, figure types and drapery.
