In the museum's own words — in Dutch

Jozef van Arimatea, Nikodemus en Johannes halen het lichaam van Christus van het kruis. Nikodemus staat op een ladder en houdt een arm van Christus vast. Johannes en Jozef nemen het lichaam van Christus in ontvangst. Maria Magdalena knielt op de grond en grijpt naar Christus voeten.

Descent from the cross: Christ is taken down from the cross, usually by Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathaea who are standing on the ladders (both arms of Christ detached)
