At the temple at Nathadwara in southern Rajasthan, the Hindu god Krishna is worshipped in the form called Srinathji ('Lord'). This painting depicts a stone image in the temple, which shows Krishna in the act of lifting up Mount Govardhan with his left hand. The background represents the mountain itself. The image is decked in jewellery and clothing, which would have varied according to the festival and the time of year.
