  1. 1825

    Commission for "Parade on the Opernplatz in Berlin"

    In 1825 Grand Duke Nicholas Pavlovich commissioned from Krüger the painting "Parade on the Opernplatz in Berlin," depicting the parade held in honour of his arrival in 1822 on the occasion of his wedding to Princess Charlotte of Prussia.

  2. 1825

    Court Painter and Member of the Prussian Academy

    In 1825 King Frederick William III appointed Krüger court painter with the title of royal professor; the same year he was elected a full member of the Prussian Academy of Arts.

  3. 1830

    Triumph of the "Parade in Berlin" at the Academy Exhibition

    In 1830 the "Parade in Berlin" was shown to enormous acclaim at the academy exhibition in Berlin.

  4. June 1831

    First Visit to Saint Petersburg

    In June 1831 Krüger arrived in Saint Petersburg to work on portraits for the Military Gallery of the Winter Palace, including portraits of Guards officers that astonished viewers with their likeness and the accuracy of the uniforms and decorations.

  5. 1848

    Depression in the Year of Revolution; Departure for Dessau

    During the Revolution of 1848 Krüger suffered a severe depression and left Berlin. In Dessau he completed the painting "Parade in Potsdam."
