Writes for magazines; criticism of Futurism
From 1912 van Doesburg supports himself by writing for magazines, still considering himself a modern painter. In his articles on Futurism (one of them, “Futurisme”, appeared in Eenheid on 9 November 1912) he argues that the mimetic expression of velocity is opposed to the character of painting, whose supreme origin lies in inner life.
