The Churchill portrait appears on the cover of Life on 21 May 1945; the magazine bought it for $100. By the end of Karsh’s career more than twenty of his photographs would appear on Life covers.

The solo exhibition “Karsh Photographs”
The National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa holds a major solo exhibition of his work, “Karsh Photographs”.

The studio moves to the Château Laurier
After forty years on Sparks Street he moves his studio to the Château Laurier hotel in Ottawa, where he works until the studio closes.
