De heilige Hieronymus zit als boeteling met gebogen hoofd terwijl hij een crucifix voor zich vasthoudt met beide handen. Op zijn schoot ligt een doodskop en in zijn nabijheid bevinden zich enkele van zijn attributen zoals de zandloper, de kardinaalshoed en een boek.
