About the work

This drawing is an illustration for the book Clara Button and the Magical Hat Day by Amy de la Haye and illustrated by Emily Sutton. The book is set mostly in the Victoria and Albert Museum and was published in 2011. This is an illustration of a hat covered in shells and sea creatures which Clara sees in the Fashion Department.

Emily Sutton was born in Yorkshire and graduated with a B.A.(Hons.) in Illustration from Edinburgh College of Art in 2008. She specialises in illustration of children's books and draws her inspiration from 20th century illustrators and the tradition of folk art.
