Een oude vrouw houdt een weegschaal vast. Ze kijkt naar de munt in haar rechterhand. Op de tafel voor haar ligt een zak met geld, enkele losse munten en een kistje. Links boven haar liggen enkele boeken op een plank. Onder de voorstelling bevindt zich een vierregelig, Nederlandstalig gedicht.
