In the museum's own words — in German

Blatt II/9 aus dem zweiten Teil des "Wunder würdigen Kriegs- und Siegs-Lagers" mit neun Radierungen: Die Privatgemächer im ersten Obergeschoss des Haupt- und Gartengebäudes. — Stichvorlage in der Österreichischen Nationalbibliothek (Cod. Min. 9/II, Nr. 185). — Die Garderobe ist jener Raum, der direkt an das Schlafzimmer anschloss und nicht nur zur Aufbewahrung der Kleider, sondern auch als Schlafstätte für den Kammerdiener diente. Der Beschreibung dieses Raums von Johann Basilius Küchelbecker – "ein schönes blau-meublirtes Zimmer, allwo allerhand Schildereien zu sehen" – steht die Kahlheit der Wände in der Kleiner'schen Darstellung entgegen. Während das Sujet des zentralen Feldes der Decke unbekannt ist, zeigen die beiden Stuckmedaillons Jupiter und Maja (links) sowie Apollo als Hirten bei Admetos (rechts).

Besonders interessant an diesem Kupferstich sind die mathematischen und optischen Instrumente, die hier dargestellt sind. Es ist nicht anzunehmen, dass Derartiges in der Gardarobe verwahrt wurde. Küchelbecker schildert jedenfalls "verschiedene Optische und Mathematische curieuse Sachen" im Bilderkabinett. Auch im Stadtpalais befand sich in der Bibliothek eine von John Rowley angefertigte astronomische Maschine, die die Bewegung der Gestirne nach dem kopernikanischen System veranschaulichte. — [Georg Lechner, 2/2010]
