The whole life1905
Visits the Rinnō-ji temples in Japan
Wright visited the Rinnō-ji temple complex in Japan; its shrine-style layout probably inspired Unity Temple. A passionate Japanophile, he claimed to be “enslaved” by ukiyo-e prints, and for a time earned more from dealing in Japanese art than from architecture.

Leaves for Europe with Mamah Cheney
Leaving their spouses and children behind, Wright and Mamah Cheney met up in Europe. He stayed almost a year — first in Florence with his eldest son Lloyd, then in Fiesole with Mamah; her husband granted her a divorce, but Wright's wife Catherine refused him one.

The Wasmuth Portfolio makes Wright known in Europe
During a journey through Germany Wright published a two-volume portfolio of his buildings and designs (the Wasmuth edition), and his work became known in Europe.
