The whole life1978
Settles in Berlin and founds Kippenberger's Office
Together with Gisela Capitain he founds Kippenberger's Office, mounting exhibitions of his own art and that of his friends, young artists.
c. 1978
Director of SO36 and founder of the punk band Grugas
In the same Berlin period he becomes business director of SO36, a space for performance, film and music, and starts the punk rock band Grugas, which records the single “Luxus” with Christine Hahn and Eric Mitchell.
1979
Exhibition “Kommen, Kucken, Kaufen” in Hamburg
Shows at the Kunsthaus in Hamburg, calling his exhibition “Kommen, Kucken, Kaufen” (“Come, Look, Buy”).
early 1980s
Becomes an active figure in the Cologne art scene
He spends the early 1980s as an active member of the Cologne art scene, working not only on the art itself but on how it is presented. According to the Vienna gallerist Peter Pakesch, in his double role as clown and strategist he did an enormous amount for the success of Max Hetzler's gallery in its early years.

Leaves Berlin, originally for a long visit to Paris, where he lives in 1980.
