About the work

Colombo, Gallen, and Jaffna were the most important towns for the VOC on Sri Lanka. The first sight to greet those approaching Colombo from the sea was the governor’s residence, with a church and the VOC’s adjacent wharf. Behind the palace sprawled a large garden where vegetables were grown
