In the life of Lyonel Feininger
The whole life1919–1933
Views of European cities on canvas
During his years teaching at the Bauhaus, views of European cities become the subject of many of his canvases.
1925
Move to Dessau
From 1925 he teaches at the Bauhaus, which has moved from Weimar to Dessau, and lives there.
1928
Start of his photographic work
From 1928 until the mid-1950s he produces a large body of photographic work; in Dessau his neighbor is the experimental photographer László Moholy-Nagy, who encourages him. He keeps the photographs within his circle of friends and never shows them to the public in his lifetime, giving only a few prints to Walter Gropius and Alfred H. Barr Jr.
