На земле, в низкой траве, лежат три спиленных крупных бревна, последнее бревно самое длинное. Первое и второе в половину короче. Первое бревно покрыто мхом, на втором бревне видны две тонкие зеленые ветки.

The whole life1863
Zurich: With Koller, First Etchings
He moved to Zurich, where under the guidance of Rudolf Koller he painted animals from life and first tried engraving with aqua regia; from there he made an excursion to Geneva to see the works of Diday and Calame.
1864–1865
Düsseldorf
He moved to Düsseldorf and attended the Düsseldorf art school; his pen drawings were placed in the Düsseldorf museum alongside works by Achenbach and Lessing.
1865
Title of Academician
For "View in the Environs of Düsseldorf," painted in Düsseldorf on commission from the collector N. Bykov, the Imperial Academy of Arts conferred on Shishkin the title of academician.
1866
Return to Russia
Homesick, he returned to St. Petersburg before his fellowship term expired; that same year his painting "Air" and six drawings were exhibited in Moscow.
