Voor een paleis reikt koning Ahasveros (Xerxes) de schone Ester zijn scepter toe, ten teken dat hij genegen is haar te ontvangen. Ester bezwijkt aan flauwte en wordt opgevangen door twee dames. Italiaans vers in ondermarge.
