Anverso: En la playa En primer plano, en el centro, un banco en el que está sentado un hombre al que vemos de espaldas. Tiene el brazo derecho acodado en el respaldo del banco, apoyando la cabeza en la mano. Frente a él, un grupo de personas, hombres y mujeres, sentados en sillas bajo un toldo. Al fondo, la playa, y en último plano a la derecha, una figura se aleja. Reverso: Rasguños que quizá se puedan identificar con un sombrero femenino.

“A Research”: the Prize of Honour in Madrid
Two paintings linking art and science, “Portrait of Dr. Simarro at the Microscope” and “A Research”, won Sorolla the Prize of Honour at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts. He showed his friend Simarro in the laboratory, catching the contrast between the reddish-yellow light of a gas burner and the weak mauvish light from the window.
