Langs een begroeide oever staan drie putti met vlinderachtige vleugels in het water. Een van hen draagt een mand met vis boven het hoofd. Een paling kronkelt uit de mand.

Giustiniani's Patronage and Poussin's Attention
In Rome the banker and collector Vincenzo Giustiniani commissioned two large religious compositions from him (now in the Abbey of Sainte-Trinité in Caen). Schut attracted the attention of the young Poussin, whose early works borrowed motifs from these pieces.

Imprisoned on Suspicion of a Colleague's Murder
He was held in a Roman prison on suspicion of murdering a fellow painter named Giusto; he was released on 2 October thanks to the intervention of the Accademia di San Luca. He then left Rome for Florence.
