About the work

Line drawing depicting the Globe Theatre by Maurice Percival. Illustration for Ronald Watkins' book on Shakespeare production at Harrow School entitled Moonlight at the Globe, published in 1947.

The Harrow Globe Theatre was established by Ronald Watkins, English and Classics teacher at Harrow School from 1932 to 1964. The Harrow Globe is a theatre inspired by the Elizabethan stage and used to this day as a place to perform Shakespeare's plays. Maurice Percival was Art Master at Harrow School from 1945 to 1954 illustrating Ronald Watkins' book Moonlight at the Globe; an essay in Shakespeare production based on performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream at Harrow.
