Pen and ink illustration created for publication in The Sketchin 1896. It shows members of the Chorus 'taking up their positions' during a performance or rehearsal of the opera Lohengrinby Richard Wagner (1813-1883). It has been signed by the artist, 'L.Gunnis', in the bottom left hand corner.
This item is one of several theatrical drawings from a collection of sketches commissioned from contemporary artists to be printed in illustrated magazines. The collection was donated to the museum by Sir William James Ingram in 1914.
Victoria and Albert Museum
