Dialectica zit op een stoel in een ruimte met stenen muren en disputeert met een oude man. Ze telt haar argumenten aan de vingers af. Op haar hoofd en op de leuning van haar stoel zitten vogels, op de grond twee padden. Dialectica staat met haar voet op een stapel boeken van belangrijke denkers.

    In 1565–1566 Cort lived in Venice in the house of Titian, who immediately recognized his abilities and gave him his finest paintings to reproduce.

    Return to Italy: Venice, Bologna, Rome

    Having returned from Italy to the Netherlands, Cort left again for Venice shortly after 1567, and from there traveled to Bologna and Rome, where he engraved after the paintings of the great masters of the time.

    Lampsonius's Letter to Titian

    Cort's connection with Cock and Titian is illustrated by a letter of 1567 from Dominicus Lampsonius of Liège addressed to Titian, in which Cock is named as Cort's teacher.
