Twee oude mannen en een oude vrouw bij de haard. De mannen roken en drinken en de vrouw heeft een kom in de handen. Aan de muur hangt een prent met de personificatie van de dood. De prent is onderdeel van een reeks van vier prenten over de leeftijden van de mens.
