About the work

In the museum's own words — in Dutch

De heilige Laurentius ligt op een rooster en wordt gebraden. Soldaten halen hout voor het vuur, stoken het vuur op en steken met een spit in Laurentius zij. Op de achtergrond een standbeeld van Maria met een engel in haar hand. Twee engelen kijken vanuit de hemel naar de marteling van Laurentius en brengen hem alvast de palmtak, het teken van de martelaar.
