Verbeelding van het bijbelvers Op 6:8 "en die daarop zat, zijn naam was de Dood". De Dood, een van de vier ruiters van de Apocalys, als skelet rijdend op een paard. In zijn handen een lang zwaard. Derde prent uit een serie van twaalf, gemaakt voor een album.

  1. 1867–1915

    Begins the journal “To Myself”

    From 1867 Redon kept a journal, “À soi-même” (“To Myself”), setting out his views on art and creation; the last entries date from 1915.

  2. 1899

    The exhibition “In Honour of Redon” at Durand-Ruel’s

    Paul Durand-Ruel organised an exhibition of young artists called “In Honour of Redon” which included Redon’s own pastels. The master’s finances nonetheless stayed difficult: his works did not sell.

  3. 1899

    Maurice Denis introduces him to the Nabis

    In 1899 Maurice Denis introduced Redon to the Nabis group.

  4. 1900

    Denis paints him in “Homage to Cézanne”

    In 1900 Maurice Denis painted Redon in “Homage to Cézanne”, standing before a Cézanne painting among Bonnard, Vuillard, Roussel, Sérusier, Mellerio and Vollard.
