May one see it?
London, United Kingdom
The owner is known. Whether it is on view today, the museum does not say, and we were not trained to guess.
This Christ statuette in carved ivory is intended as a figure for a crucifix. It is Netherlandish or French and made in ca. 1700.
The loin-cloth is tied on the right side. The hands and feet are pierced and there is a hole in the head for the attachment of a nimbus.
