    Founds the Berlin Artists’ Association

    He founds the Berlin Artists’ Association (Berlinischer Künstlerverein) and becomes its chairman.

  2. 1814

    Victory emblem on the quadriga changed after Napoleon’s defeat

    Originally the emblem of victory held by Victoria consists of a helmet on a spear, armour and two shields in the antique manner. After the victory over Napoleon it is changed to a sketch by Schinkel: the spear is crowned with an oak wreath around an iron cross, on which sits a crowned Prussian eagle with spread wings.

    Widowed

    In 1815 Schadow is widowed; two years later he marries again.
