    Switzerland and southern France

    Decamps traveled through Switzerland and southern France to develop his art.

  3. 1827

    Paris Salon debut

    Decamps exhibited at the Paris Salon for the first time.

  4. 1828

    A journey to the East

    Decamps traveled to Greece with Ambroise-Louis Garneray, then visited Constantinople, Asia Minor and the Middle East. The sketches he brought back supplied material for his paintings for years.

  5. 1855

    A medal at the Paris exhibition

    Decamps received the grand medal at the Paris Exhibition.

  6. 22 August 1860
