Death of Albert Müller and a memorial exhibition
In December 1926 Kirchner’s close friend Albert Müller died of typhoid fever together with his wife Anni; in 1927 Kirchner organised a memorial exhibition for Müller at the Kunsthalle Basel.
1927
A major exhibition in the Davos schoolhouse
In 1927 a major exhibition of Kirchner’s work was held in the schoolhouse in Davos, with positive reviews.
1929
An open letter to the Rot-Blau group
In 1929 Kirchner was forced to distance himself from Rot-Blau after they pledged allegiance to him, which greatly upset him; in “An open letter to the Basel Red-Blue group” in no. 5 of Das Kunstblatt he stated that he was not their patron.
1931
Elected to the Prussian Academy of Arts
In 1931 Kirchner was made a member of the Prussian Academy of Arts in Berlin.
