    Entered the Workshop of Gregorio Lazzarini

    Became a pupil of the Venetian painter Gregorio Lazzarini, an artist of eclectic style; at the same time he studied the works of Ricci, Piazzetta, Tintoretto, and Veronese.

  2. 1717

    Left Lazzarini's Workshop, Joined the Painters' Guild

    The young artist left Lazzarini's workshop and became a member of the Venetian painters' guild (fraglia pittorica veneziana).

  3. 1719

    Married: Maria Cecilia Guardi

  4. 1719

    Married Maria Cecilia Guardi

    Married the sister of the painters Francesco and Giovanni Antonio Guardi; the marriage produced nine children, among them the future painters Giandomenico and Lorenzo.

  5. 1723

    Lost the San Domenico Chapel Commission to Piazzetta

    Submitted sketches for the ceiling decoration of the Chapel of San Domenico in the Basilica of Santi Giovanni e Paolo, but the commission was awarded to G. B. Piazzetta.
