About the work

This drawing is a preparatory illustration for the book Clara Button and the Magical Hat Day by Amy de la Haye and illustrated by Emily Sutton. The book is set in the Victoria and Albert Museum and was published in 2011. The image is of Clara coming through the glass revolving doors of the main entrance of the Museum. The illustration was not used in the final production of the book.

Emily Sutton was born in Yorkshire and graduated with a B.A.(Hons.) in Illustration from Edinburgh College of Art in 2008. She specialises in illustration of children’s books and draws her inspiration from 20th century illustrators and the tradition of folk art.
