About the work

Museum text in Dutch

Christus wordt door soldaten voorgeleid aan Herodes. Onder in de marge is een ornament afgebeeld met putti en guirlandes. Geheel onder staat een Duitse tekst in twee regels die de tronende figuur duidt als de hogepriester Kajafas: Caiphas spricht zu ... etc. Matth. rrpi. De voorstelling is echter algemeen bekend als Christus voor Herodes. De bovenrand van de prent met een gedeelte van de rondboog en de twee schilden met keurvorstelijke en hertogelijke wapens van Saksen is afgesneden.
