Inscripție, semnat și datat pe caseta lirei: A TOUS LES MIENS / À MA CHÈRE FEMME / CLÉOPÂTRA SEVASTOS / À MES CHÉRS PETITS / PIERRE ET PODYN [RODY], (în caractere grecești) / JE DÉDIE / CE CENTAURE MOURANT / EMILE-ANTOINE / BOURDELLE - / 6 MARS 1914 / PARIS. Inscripție pe soclu, dreapta jos: Le Centaure / mourant. Inițialele AB și monograma artistului pe soclu, dreapta spre mijloc. Frontal, pe pieptul centaurului, partea stângă, inițiala artistului: E. Inscripția turnătoriei pe soclu, dreapta jos: ALEXIS Rudier/ Fondeur PARIS.

Twenty years of teaching at the Grande Chaumière
From 1909 to 1929 Bourdelle taught at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière; his students included Germaine Richier, Alberto Giacometti, Margaret Cossaceanu, Isaac Frenkel and Adaline Kent.
1912–1914
Vera Mukhina comes to study with him
In 1912–1914 the outstanding Russian sculptor Vera Mukhina studied with Bourdelle at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris and took a great deal from her teacher.
