A master class at the Städelschule
In 1925 Beckmann is selected to teach a master class at the Städelschule in Frankfurt; his best-known students include Theo Garve, Leo Maillet and Marie-Louise von Motesiczky.

A retrospective at the Mannheim Kunsthalle
A large retrospective of Beckmann opens at the Städtische Kunsthalle Mannheim; together with the shows in Basel and Zurich and numerous publications it showed the high esteem in which he was held.

In 1930 large retrospectives of Beckmann are held in Basel and in Zurich.

The Nazis dismiss Beckmann from his teaching post
In 1933 the Nazi government calls Beckmann a “cultural Bolshevik” and dismisses him from his teaching position at the art school in Frankfurt.
1937
Leaving for the Netherlands after Hitler's speech
The day after Hitler's radio speech about degenerate art, Beckmann leaves Germany with his second wife, Quappi, for the Netherlands.

In 1937 the government confiscates more than 500 of his works from German museums and puts several on display at the notorious Degenerate Art exhibition in Munich.
