En primer plano, en el centro, cabeza de caballo que corresponde al tiro de un carruaje de urbano, ya que lleva anteojeras. El caballo ha sido perfectamente dibujado en todos los detalles anatómicos y de su aparejo. Frente a él, a la derecha, figuras sólo insinuadas, distinguiéndose una chistera y otras figuras por bultos. A la izquierda, sobre la acera dibujada, un grupo de figuras hablan formando corro. En el reverso se ha copiado por contacto el dibujo con Nº Inv. 13150

    “A Research”: the Prize of Honour in Madrid

    Two paintings linking art and science, “Portrait of Dr. Simarro at the Microscope” and “A Research”, won Sorolla the Prize of Honour at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts. He showed his friend Simarro in the laboratory, catching the contrast between the reddish-yellow light of a gas burner and the weak mauvish light from the window.
