About the work

In the museum's own words — in Dutch

Bruiloftsprent uit 1729 met een allegorische voorstelling ter gelegenheid van een huwelijk. Hercules ligt samen met een muze van de Vrije Kunsten tussen leeuwen op het gras bij Cupido die op een rots zit. Bovenaan de Faam en twee elkaar omhelzende putti. In de hoeken monogrammen. Onderaan de spreuk 'Amori cedant omnia'. Volgens een opschrift op de achterzijde is het een bruiloftsprent voor Jakob Dirksz van Lennep en Catharina de Wolff, gehuwd te Amsterdam op 12 september 1724. Dan zou het dus gaan om een 5-jarig jubileum.
