About the sculpture
Transfer of Sovereignty to Surinam. On 25 November 1975 the Republic of Surinam was proclaimed in Paramaribo. In the presence of the Dutch Prime Minister, J.M. den Uyl, the Act of Sovereignty was signed in Surinam. In the Netherlands later that day Queen Juliana signed the Act of Recognition of the Republic of Surinam.
