Maria zit met het lichaam van Christus op schoot voor het graf en heeft haar ogen ten hemel geslagen. Achter haar Johannes de Evangelist. Maria Magdalena kust huilend de hand van Christus. Een engel met een spijker van het kruis in zijn hand staat aan haar voeten en veegt tranen uit zijn gezicht. In de marge een tekst in Latijn.
