Posible estudio para el cuadro Sol de la tarde pintado en 1903 con una escena de playa en cuyo anverso aparece en primer plano, a la izquierda, parte de una barca varada en la orilla. En el centro, una yunta de bueyes vista desde los cuartos traseros se adentran en el agua guiados por un boyero. Ya en el agua y en segundo plano, dos barcas con la vela desplegada. Una línea ondulante simula una ola. Al fondo, la línea del horizonte. En el reverso, apunte de dos velas.

    The painting won the medal of honour at the National Exhibition in Madrid. Two of its luminous preparatory oil sketches Sorolla gave as gifts to the American artists John Singer Sargent and William Merritt Chase.
