Anverso: Apuntes de figuras A la izquierda, en la zona inferior, figura masculina desnuda, posiblemente infantil, representado hasta las rodillas. Sobre éste, apunte de cabeza y parte de cuerpo, también infantil, sin terminar. A la derecha, otra figura desnuda, de frente con el brazo izquierdo extendido a un lado de su cuerpo. Bajo este apunte, y visto con el papel en vertical, otro desnudo infantil masculino, de perfil ligeramente desde atrás representado de tres cuartos. Reverso: Apunte de cabeza A la izquierda, rasguños. Al lado, en el centro, cabeza de perfil a la derecha, femenina, penada con moño. El perfil prácticamente no se ha dibujado.

“A Research”: the Prize of Honour in Madrid
Two paintings linking art and science, “Portrait of Dr. Simarro at the Microscope” and “A Research”, won Sorolla the Prize of Honour at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts. He showed his friend Simarro in the laboratory, catching the contrast between the reddish-yellow light of a gas burner and the weak mauvish light from the window.
