Anverso: Mujer sentada En el centro del papel, mujer sentada en un elemento no dibujado. Está de perfil a la derecha, y sólo han quedado sin representar los pies. Tiene el brazo derecho extendido frente a ella, realizando una acción que no se ha dibujado. Lleva falda y camisa de manga corta o remangada. Reverso: Apunte de buey Buey visto de perfil a la derecha, ligeramente desde atrás avanzando hacia el fondo. No se han representado las patas.

“A Research”: the Prize of Honour in Madrid
Two paintings linking art and science, “Portrait of Dr. Simarro at the Microscope” and “A Research”, won Sorolla the Prize of Honour at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts. He showed his friend Simarro in the laboratory, catching the contrast between the reddish-yellow light of a gas burner and the weak mauvish light from the window.
