Verschillende scènes uit het verhaal van Apollo en Marsyas. Rechts, Apollo en Marsyas die een muziek wedstrijd houden met als jury Pallas Athena en Koning Midas. In het midden, Apollo die Marsyas vilt. Op de achtergrond een groepje muzen. Links, de kapper van Koning Midas die in een gat in de grond schreeuwt. Op de achtergrond Apollo die Koning Midas zijn ezelsoren geeft in het bijzijn van Athena.
