Francesco RighettiItalian, 1738–1819May one see it?
Amsterdam, Netherlands
The owner is known. Whether it is on view today, the museum does not say, and we were not trained to guess.
The young Apollo is one of twelve figures that Amsterdam banker and art collector Henry Hope commissioned Righetti to make for his estate Welgelegen near Haarlem. They were all lead copies modelled on Ancient examples, and originally painted white to resemble the marble originals.
