About the work
A little girl in an apron kneels next to a basket on a street corner. The basket, which has been propped up on a wooden crate, is covered with a white piece of fabric and contains a neatly arranged spread of goods. The little girl turns her head over her shoulder and looks out at the camera, one arm still reaching towards the basket. At the corner of the building on the corner, there is a stone carving of a snake. To image right, a commercial city street block is visible.
