In the museum's own words — in Dutch

De nimf Arethusa vlucht voor de riviergod Alphëus uit het water. Aan een tak van een boom die aan de oever staat trekt ze zich omhoog. Op de achtergrond hangt aan een boom een pijlenkoker als symbool van de liefde. Onder de prent een vers uit de Metamorfosen van Ovidius.
