In the life of R. Buckminster Fuller

The whole life
  1. 1954

Begins working with the architect Shoji Sadao

In 1954 Fuller began working with the architect Shoji Sadao; together they later designed a hypothetical Dome over Manhattan and founded the architectural firm Fuller & Sadao Inc.

  2. 1954

    Patent for the geodesic dome

In 1954 Fuller was awarded U.S. patent 2,682,235 for the geodesic dome. His application made no mention of the self-supporting dome created and patented in Germany on 19 June 1925 by Walther Bauersfeld: Fuller undoubtedly popularized this type of structure, but he is mistakenly given credit for its design.

  3. 1955

    The Alfred Korzybski Memorial Lecture

In the 1950s Fuller attended seminars and workshops organized by the Institute of General Semantics, and in 1955 he delivered the annual Alfred Korzybski Memorial Lecture; Korzybski's ideas of general semantics influenced him.
