Moves to the Konijnenstraat
In time De Hooch found well-to-do clients and business went fairly well, and he moved with his family to the prestigious Konijnenstraat in the Jordaan, where he stayed for at least two years.

The Rampjaar: war with France
The war with France in 1672 — the Rampjaar, the 'disaster year' — sharply worsened the country's economy, and paintings sold poorly. That same year De Hooch's third son was baptised.
